TOM WALDRON, PRESIDENT

Tom has more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit communications and journalism. He has overseen a range of strategic communications projects for clients ranging from national foundations to small, community-based nonprofits. He is committed to using smart communications to advance social change. 

Prior to founding Waldron Strategies in 2019, he worked at The Hatcher Group, a communications firm focused on mission-driven organizations. He led the growth of the firm’s Baltimore office, working with dozens of clients. He led communications strategy for a range of advocacy campaigns, including the successful effort to repeal the death penalty in Maryland and the campaign that passed the $15 minimum wage bill in the Baltimore City Council.

He previously worked as a reporter for The Baltimore Sun and the Evening Sun, reporting locally, in Washington, D.C., and around the country. He served as State House bureau chief for The Sun for 10 years, overseeing General Assembly reporting and state political coverage.

He is author of Pride of the Sea, the acclaimed recounting of the loss of the schooner Pride of Baltimore in 1986. Read more here
